Our Story

NARANGBA DOCTORS is a General Practice located in a purpose built building in the heart of Narangba, Queensland. The practice opened in 2009 and brought much needed medical services to NARANGBA – one of the fastest growing suburbs in North of Brisbane. During this short time, we have created a good reputation in the area by providing high quality healthcare to our community.

Narangba Doctors have both male and female GP’s offering a broad range of general medical services. All have undergone extensive training, are involved in continuing professional development and are vocationally registered with The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP). GP’s are supported by an experienced team of Registered Nurses, Reception/Admin staff and a Practice Manager.

In addition to general medical services, Doctors offer specialist services such as skin checks, contraceptive services-Mirena/Implanon etc. We also have QML Pathology and allied health services on site.

SOCIAL & COMMUNITY RESPONSIBILITY

We are involved in a number of charitable and community programs as a part of our commitment to improve the health of individuals, families and our local community. Doctors and staff joined more than 1600 trekkers on 28th of July 2017 for the inaugural 30km Sunshine Coastrek to raise funds for Fred Hollows Foundation which restores sight in those needlessly blind. Since university Amelia has worked in aged care – visiting Brisbane’s aged care residential facilities and helping older Australians manage their nutrition living at home in the community. For the past year, Amelia has worked part-time in private practice – working one on one with clients to improve their overall health through nutrition.

Amelia’s philosophy when working with clients is that there are no foods that are off-limits or should be labelled as “bad foods.” Based on this philosophy, Amelia creates a supportive environment for the management of chronic diseases and diet-related conditions. Amelia will always listen to the client’s perspectives, situations, and preferences to create personalised dietary plans. Amelia has a holistic approach to healthy eating where factors such as nutrition knowledge/education, income, stress, physical capabilities, mood, support networks etc. are all taken into account when creating a healthy diet plan.

Amelia’s special interests include the dietary management of gut health conditions such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS, including implementing the low FODMAP diet), inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), and food intolerances. Amelia uses her further study in these areas to provide evidence-based recommendations for the prescription of dietary supplements or the inclusion of key food sources of nutrients.

Amelia is active on her Instagram social media account to provide professional nutrition tips and food inspiration. Follow Amelia @gut_mind_dietitian to see what she’s all about!

OUR POLICIES

Appointments

We operate an appointment system. Our phones are open from 7.30 am to take bookings. Most appointments are booked for 10-15 minutes. If you have a complex problem or several complaints and require a longer consultation, please advise the receptionist when you make an appointment. Please make bookings for each person wishing to consult the doctor at the time of booking. This helps us to reduce waiting times for both yourself and others.

Every month several appointments are wasted by patients who fail to attend or cancel a pre-booked appointment. In the last 12 months we had over 1300 patients (average 100 patients per month) fail to attend their appointments. This is clearly a waste of our health professional time. It also affects patient care as patients who need to see the Doctor or Nurse cannot get appointments. There may be a potential risk to the health of the patient as well.

If you cannot keep a confirmed appointment, please cancel it as soon as possible as this appointment can be offered to another patient who is in need of it.

Failure to cancel an appointment 2 hours before the appointment time will be considered a missed appointment and will incur a fee.

Repeat Prescriptions

In the interest of good medical care, your doctor will need to see you for a repeat prescription. In exceptional circumstances, at the discretion of the treating doctor, collection may be possible subject to a small fee. (see attached fees & billings section for more information).

Reminder System

Our practice is interested in promoting good health through preventative medicine. We may issue you with a reminder notice from time to time offering you preventive health services appropriate to your care. Please let our receptionist know if you do not wish to be part of this system.

PLEASE REMEMBER, THAT IF YOU NO LONGER REQUIRE OR ARE UNABLE TO ATTEND FOR YOUR APPOINTMENT, RING THE SURGERY TO CANCEL YOUR APPOINTMENT SO THAT IT MAY BE OFFERED TO ANOTHER PATIENT.

It is your responsibility to turn-up or cancel the appointment and SMS reminder is sent purely as a courtesy only.
